ROCK MAGNETISM MEASUREMENTS
WITH TRADITION

For more than twenty years AGICO (Advanced Geoscience Instruments COmpany) brings you excellent laboratory instruments for measurement of magnetic properties of rocks and environmental samples. Its instrument making tradition goes back to the sixties when the first models of Kappabridge and Spinner Magnetometer were developed in the Geofyzika company in Brno.

AGICO Kappabridges (KLY and MFK series) have then gradually become worldwide standards for measurements of magnetic susceptibility of rocks, anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS), field, frequency, temperature variations of magnetic susceptibility, and, most recently, out-of-phase susceptibility. AGICO Kappabridges are the instruments of choice for a great number of paleomagnetic and rock magnetic laboratories worldwide for their outstanding sensitivity, ease of use and advanced software support.

AGICO Spinner Magnetometers (JR series) are probably the most sensitive and accurate commercially available instruments for measurement of remanent magnetization of rocks based on the classical (non-cryogenic) principles. They are favored for their sensitivity, very wide measuring range, compact dimensions, reliability, and acceptable price.

AGICO Alternating Field Demagnetizers (LDA series) are indispensable in any paleomagnetic or rock magnetic research especially when coupled with optional anhysteretic and/or low-field Pulse Magnetizers enabling to investigate, for example, Anisotropy of Magnetic Remanence, Viscous Magnetization.

AGICO Impulse magnetizer PUMA allows magnetization of standard geophysical samples over a field range of 1 mT - 5 T. The large range of magnetic field strengths and the possibility of arbitrary orientation of standard geophysical samples allows to investigate the Anisotropy of Magnetic Remanence in addition to common magnetization tasks.

AGICO innovates its instruments systematically through computerization and automation in order to increase measurement rapidity and comfort and, if possible, sensitivity and accuracy. To make data evaluation easier, AGICO specialists have developed several computer programs for advanced data processing supplied complimentary with the delivered instruments.

NEWS

  • Updated version of Anisoft software (current version 6.1.02.) was released on April 2024. Includes DeformAMS: New toolbox for modelling magnetic fabric evolution during rock deformation. For more informations check this document. More details and software download can be found here

  • AGICO introduces the BCK1 - Big Coil Kappabride a highly sensitive laboratory instrument for measuring magnetic susceptibility of large-size rock specimens, drill cores, archeological artifacts and construction materials. Instrument is available for sale from 10/2024. For more information refer here

  • Dear colleagues, AGICO's website has been moved from the agico.com domain to the current agico.cz domain for administrative reasons. We hope to be able to move back to our primary domain within a few months. We apologize for the inconvenience.

  • The improved shell for the 3D Rotator has recently been released. The new version allows to measure cubes with an edge of 20 mm in addition to the standard one-inch cylindrical samples. For availability and pricing contact us at agico@agico.cz.

  • AGICO introduces the tabletop imPUlse MAgnetizer PUMA This instrument is designed for impulse magnetization of standard geomagnetic specimens with range of magnetic field intensities from 1 mT up to 5 T. Directional magnetizations in standard set of 18 magnetization directions are possible as well. Instrument is available for sale from 10/2023. For more information refer here

  • Please be informed, that AGICO changed its address and new location of the company is Purkynova 3050/99a, Brno, CZ-612 00
